That time has come once again! Change is upon us, and I’m not talking about a New Year’s resolution. If we’re honest with ourselves, we know most resolutions end up being unresolved only to be recycled for next year. What we’re talking about is REAL change. We’re talking to the people who are sick and tired of being sick and tired with their situation or problem, whatever that may be, and ready for change. Radical change.
Why radical? Change requires a level of commitment others would see as abnormal. That’s exactly what change is, not normal. This is why we’re calling it radical change. You’re doing something totally outside of what you normally do. It requires dedication. It’s easy to SAY you’ll make a change, but the ACTION is where the real effort comes in. It may not seem like a big deal now, but just wait until that old habit kicks in and you unconsciously slip into your old normal. That’s a dilemma we’ve all found ourselves in. Habit is the reason why you absolutely have to have your mind set on changing. Your habit will quietly lull you right back to your old normal. You’ll look up, nothing will be changed, and you’ll wonder, “What happened?”
Nothing, that’s what happened. You did nothing, so you get nothing.
The key to radical change is simply consistency on a daily basis for an extended period of time. It’s been said that creating a habit takes at least 21 days of effort. You need to be at it for at least a month before change becomes your “new” normal. So that means no days off! Skipping day is just like starting from day 1 again. Skipping a day is allowing your old normal to creep back into your life.
Yes, there are going to be days when you don’t feel like it. Do it anyway. There’ll be days when you’re tired. Do it anyway. There’ll be days when you think can’t continue. Do it anyway. You’re going to have to push yourself, manipulate yourself, and have an internal argument every day, but it will worth it in the end. You’ll make that radical change and you’ll no longer be sick and tired of being sick and tired. Instead, you’ll be looking for something else to radically change!
